Services for Jessie Cooper will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Ministries with the Rev. Mitchell Dent officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home with family present from 5 until 6 and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Cooper died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 79.

He retired from Ferris Farms as a farmer and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Utica.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Artimese Cooper Brown; his parents, Hazel Ellis Russell and Lovie Cooper; a daughter, Janice Robinson Edwards; and four brothers, Elijah Russell, Clem Cooper, William Russell and Wardell Russell.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his caregiver, Otto Moore; four daughters, Jacqueline Cooper and Debra Robinson Goodman, both of Vicksburg, Gloria Cooper of Jackson and Sharon Robinson of Clinton; a sister, Geneive Russell Williams of Aurora, Ill.; two brothers, Leon Cooper of Rolling Fork and George Russell of Aurora; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Carla Harris and members of the Ellis, Cooper, Drake, Ferris, Wright, Appleton, McGowan, Royal and Rankin families.
