ROLLING FORK — David Cyrus Ewing died as a result of a midmorning vehicle accident on Mississippi 16 near Rolling Fork on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
David was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Ewing Jr. at Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg on April 6, 1969. He grew up in Anguilla and graduated from high school at Sharkey-Issaquena Academy in Rolling Fork, where he was recognized as an outstanding athlete in both basketball and football.
He attended Delta State University, where he continued his athletic career as quarterback for the football team. David also attended Mississippi State University before returning to his home in Anguilla to join Ewing Planting Company to farm with his father — a lifelong dream fulfilled.
On July 7, 2005, he married Julia Carpenter Rodgers of Rolling Fork. They established their home in Rolling Fork with David’s daughters, Samantha Grace and Taylor Elizabeth. William Rodgers Ewing was born Oct. 9, 2010, to complete the family.
David is survived by his wife, Julia Rodgers Ewing; children, Samantha Grace, Taylor Elizabeth and William Rodgers Ewing; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Ewing of Anguilla; a brother, Justin Thomas Ewing (Christan); nephew, Cade Ewing; and nieces, Libba and Evie Ewing.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Chapel of the Cross in Rolling Fork.
