Robert H. Thames

TALLULAH — Robert H. Thames died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at his home in Tallulah. He was 68.

Mr. Thames was born in Winnsboro, La., and had lived in Madison Parish most of his life. He was a farmer and a member of Willow Bayou Baptist Church of Tallulah.

He is survived by his wife, Niki Thames of Tallulah; a son, Sam Kennedy of Delta, La.; three daughters, Christi Purvis and Valerie Thornton, both of Tallulah, and Sheila Mayberry of Sherman, Texas; a brother, Richard Thames of Tallulah; three sisters, Barbara Averett and Ola Thames, both of Tallulah, and Maxine Thames of Coldwater; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Revs. Martin Parker and Jason McGuffie officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Watson, Dave Mayberry, Robert Purvis, Billy Smith, Graling Averett and Dewey Brock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Schaufele and members of the East Bear Lake Fire Department.
