Young professionals with a taste for cultural exchange are being urged to apply for a Rotary-sponsored trip to Australia in October.
Four people who live or work in Rotary District 6820, encompassing Vicksburg and the central Mississippi area, will be selected for the Group Study Exchange Program, which features “inside access to people, places and events that most tourists never see,” the organization states.
Those chosen will be part of a five-member team promoting international understanding and good will through person-to-person contact. They will meet professional peers while traveling for several weeks in New South Wales, Australia, stay in Rotarians’ homes there, experience the people and culture of the area and give presentations to Rotary clubs and other groups about Mississippi and the United States.
Rotary International will pay for airfare, meals, lodging, transportation and admission fees to local sites. Team members are responsible for passports and personal and incidental expenses.
Applicants must be 25 to 40 years old and employed full-time in a business or profession.
For more information and to apply, call Hal Morgan, study exchange chairman for the Vicksburg Rotary Club, at 601-529-1789. All application materials must be submitted to the district by June 15.
