Services for Carl E. ”Dusty” Carter will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with William Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 6 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 56.

Mr. Carter was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness and had worked in construction with his family business.

He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Carter Sr.; a brother, Edwin J. Carter; a sister, Rose Turner; maternal grandparents, John S. and Sirlinor Sykes; and paternal grandparents, Eugene Sr. and Rosie Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Leonia R. Carter; a son, Nika Ragsdale of Houston; four daughters, Latricia Ragsdale of Jackson, Sonora Ragsale of Philidelphia, Pa., Francina Darden of Dallas and Dominique Carter of Vicksburg; his mother, Vera S. Carter; three brothers, James J. Carter Jr. and Curtis Carter, both of Vicksburg, and Charles Carter of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sisters, Sirlinar C. Sutton, Jeanette Peters and Joan C. Davis, all of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
