A man shot into a home on Halls Ferry Road, then scuffled with the resident, then drove a vehicle into some furniture before fleeing on foot, Vicksburg police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.
He said the crime occurred about 7:34 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of Halls Ferry. The resident, who was not identified, told police he heard a noise at the back door of his home and opened the door to find a man standing there with a gun. The man shot into the home and then entered it before he scuffled with the resident and then ran off.
Stewart said the resident followed the man, who got into a Ford Explorer parked in front of the house. When the man saw the resident in the driveway, he pulled the SUV into the drive and attempted to run over him, missing him, but damaging furniture under the carport. The man then fled on foot in the direction of Roseland Drive.
Stewart said the SUV belongs to a woman who was inside the house with the resident.
