Achievements

• Students who earned certificates for completing the Financial Literacy program through Hinds Community College’s Career and Technical Center were Khadijah Anderson, RoSean Brown, Jamisa Burkley, Andrea Carter, Keyaira Chiplin, LaQuana Coleman, Jessica Edmond, Marcus Francois, Kaci Holdiness, Roya Leann Jackson, Neci Jenkins, Daniel Kees, Billy Muirhead, Nathan Murrell, Evelyn Purdom, Desirae Richardson, Alvin Stimage Jr. and Chris Williams. The program offers Everfi technology to teach students critical life skills and allow them to become certified in personal finance. The students also participate in the Stock Market Game online hypothetical investment portfolio sponsored by the Mississippi Economics Education Council.

• Joe Carr has received a master’s degree in public accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is employed with Clark Oil Company. He is the son of Cynde and Mickey Mott of Vicksburg and Larry and Lori Carr of Flora.

Scholarships

• Recipients of Rotary Club of Vicksburg scholarships were Heather Hayes, a St. Aloysius graduate, who received the Scholastic Scholarship; Emily Chambliss, a Warren Central High School graduate, who received the Vocational Community Service Scholarship; and Marquise Holmes, a Vicksburg High graduate, who received the Vocational Scholarship.
