The Vicksburg Billies needed back-to-back wins on Sunday to earn the 10-year-olds’ United States Specialty Sports Association state title in Flowood.

Mission accomplished.

The Billies won the first game of the tournament’s final day, 8-0, against the Sluggers behind Shane Lewis’ no-hitter. He had five strikeouts and walked three in four innings of work. James Trichell had two hits and three RBIs.

In the title game, a 10-2 win over the PSA Red Sox, Caleb Sterling went five innings, striking out five, to earn the victory. Vantrel Reed had two doubles, while Sterling and Thomas Phillips added two singles apiece. Sterling paced the offense with two RBIs.

The Billies went undefeated in the tournament, which started Thursday, but needed extra innings to erase a seven-run deficit on Saturday and beat the Columbus Clippers 11-10.
