Some kids just can’t stop singing and dancing.

For them, veteran Vicksburg Warren School District music teacher Nancy Robertson started her Can’t Stop Singing summer camp 20 years ago.

“It’s all about fun,” Robertson said Wednesday, as she led 52 boys and girls ages 5 to 14 in songs and choreographed dance movements, and every one of them paid attention to her and followed. “It’s summer, they love music and moving around and we all just have fun.”

“I come here because I can meet new friends and because I just love to sing and dance,” said 9-year-old Macy Watts, who’ll soon be a fourth-grader at Bowmar Elementary School. “It’s my favorite thing to do.”

Macy said she’s attended Can’t Stop Singing for six years and enjoys practice during the week but especially getting up on the big stage for the Friday morning finale in front of an audience. “Performing — I’ve always liked it, but here I feel like I’m bigger, I’m better than I feel at school. It feels good to come here.”
