BATESVILLE — Hershel Dean Millsaps died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. He was 71.

Mr. Millsaps was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Millsaps and Mable Young Millsaps; and one sister, Louise Pearson.

He is survived by his wife, Nell Montgomery Millsaps of Batesville; one daughter, Michelle White (Doug) of West Point; three sons, Dean Taggart (Cheryl) of Birmingham, Ala., Chase Montgomery (Colleen) of Batesville and Todd Montgomery of Water Valley; three sisters, Ruth Willis of Starkville, Inez Hudnall (Sam) of Meridian and Barbara Cashman (Pat) of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the donor’s choice.
