James Olyn Hill

GLEN ALLAN — Funeral services for James “Sharecropper” Olyn Hill, 70 years old of Glen Allan, Miss., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Lake Washington First Baptist Church in Glen Allan. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service at the church. Burial will be in County Line Community Cemetery.

Mr. Hill died Friday, July 6, 2012, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Mr. Hill was born on Jan. 31, 1942, in Louisville, Miss., to Roger and Lillian Hill. He grew up in Noxapater, Miss., where he attended school. He was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and lived in Glen Allan for 20 years where he was a member of Lake Washington First Baptist Church. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Lillian Hill, his wife, Shirley Mae Hill, and his grandson, Peyton Olyn Hill.

He is survived by two sons, John Hill and his wife Lisa of Glen Allan, and Billy Sanders of Vicksburg; six daughters, Diane Wood, Teresa Burchfield and her husband Gary, Melinda, Shiela, Lorraine and Terry; two brothers, J.W. Hill (Ann) of Southaven, Miss., and Johnny Hill of Indianola, Miss.; his sister, Nell Box (Jimmy) of Glen Allan; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Rev. Jimmy McClendon will officiate the service.
