Research by Vicksburg resident Dr. Girish Panicker, director of the Conservation Center at Alcorn State University, was selected for presentation at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. His poster presentation, “Effect of Organic Farming Systems in the Performance of Rabbiteye Blueberry on a Heavy Soil,” was part of the festival’s Campus and Community program commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of land-grant universities and the USDA. The festival has been outdoors on the National Mall of the United States in Washington, D.C., every summer since 1967.
