Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Allen Brown of Port Gibson announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Ruth, to James Howard Marshall. Mr. Marshall is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall Jr. of Brandon.

Miss Brown is the granddaughter of Ruth S. Brei-thaupt and the late Ernest T. Breithaupt of Lorman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jay O. Brown of Pattison.

Mr. Marshall is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall Sr. of Irvington, Ala., and Billie Hughes and the late Don Hughes of Mobile, Ala.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Chamberlain-Hunt Academy in Port Gibson and Delta State University in Cleveland.

She is a business services consultant with State Bank and Trust Company in Flowood.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon and Hinds Community College in Pearl.

He is an electrical lineman with B&B Electric and Utility Contractors Inc. in Brandon.

Vows will be exchanged in early September at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison. A reception will follow at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum complex.
