Shooting enthusiasts will start the school year off with a bang Saturday while raising funds for Vicksburg Catholic School at the Lightning Round Sporting Clay Shoot.

The skeet shoot, set to begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., will be on the woods course at the Tara Wildlife Refuge at Eagle Lake.

“This is a new and fun way for the school to be able to raise some money, and people can come out and have some fun,” said Matt Farrell, incoming president for the VCS Advisory Council. “It’s a new way to get everybody excited about beginning the school year.”
