Stephen E. Kent, a 1990 graduate of Alcorn State University, has been pinned as a colonel in the U.S. Army. The pinning was celebrated in a promotion celebration on ASU’s Lorman campus, where Kent’s family, friends and ASU President M. Christopher Brown II were in attendance. Kent is a Fayette native and 1987 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Kent was pinned by his former high school ROTC instructor, John H. Bailey; his wife, Monica Perkins Kent; and sons, Corey and Jared. Kent’s brother, Ltc. Patrick F. Kent, presided.
Second Lt. Daniel Berryhill has completed the U.S. Army Infantry Officers Basic Leadership Course and Ranger School at Fort Benning, Ga. He earned the Infantry Blue Cord and the Army Ranger Tab. Lt. Berryhill was commissioned into the Army through the Reserve Officers Training Corps program at Mississippi State University. He is serving as a platoon leader with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy, and is deployed to Afghanistan. He is the son of Dennis and Sandy Berryhill of Port Gibson.
