Selective outrage

Before the smoke had cleared and even before the relatives of the victims of the shooting rampage in Colorado had been notified, New York Gov. Michael Bloomberg was calling for more gun bans. I realize how terrible things like the shooting in Aurora, and the Columbine incident years before, are and deserve proper news coverage.
Then, when one thinks about it, you have to remember that more people are killed in Chicago every week than died in Aurora. Illinois and Chicago have the most anti-gun laws in the country. Seems most have come to accept some things and have fainting spells over others that are more or less the same thing.
I just heard on the evening news there have been 284 homicides in Chicago this year, as of July 22. No one is excited.
Also, since 1998, 548 kids have died from being left in automobiles — and 38 last year. Where is the outrage about that?
I haven’t seen any stats lately of how many have died because of improper use of cell phones, but I feel they are many. And, what about alcohol? That is probably the biggest one of all.
Guess what, our state Legislature just gave the OK for stronger beer. No one losing any sleep over that either. All who voted for that should be dumped.
I just hope gun owners will finally come together and vote the way they should. The first question we should ask any of these blood-suckers is their support of gun rights. If they do not, then we need to find someone who does.
Together gun owners can control any and all elections. I hope they will think on that and go vote right.
