Bettye J. White died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

Born in Edwards, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward Cox and Bessie Louise Patton Cox. Mrs. White was employed by Ricks Carpet Company for 30 years as manager. She was a member of Edwards Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Steven L. White (Shirley); three daughters, Sharon Ladd (Don), Stacie Griffin (Jeff) and Shannon White (Archie Kirkley), all of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Taylor Ladd, Chase Ladd, Elizabeth Bowers, Katie Kirkley, Jaxon Griffin, Shane White and Brandy Banks; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Rather; and four brothers, Jimmy Cox, William Cox, Lamar Cox and Frank Cox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby G. White; two brothers, Robert Cox Jr. and Marvin Cox; and a sister, Billie Cox.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Barrentine, pastor of Edwards Baptist Church, and Dr. John G. McCall, former pastor of Edwards Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Edwards Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. Thursday until the service.
