11 protest county’s tax values

Eleven homeowners and businesses on Monday formally objected to values assigned to their properties by Warren County this year.
Of those, the list included three of Vicksburg’s four casinos — Ameristar, Rainbow and DiamondJacks — three buildings owned by a division of River Region Medical Center, and four private homes. The Board of Supervisors took all under advisement.
This year, no one appeared in person before supervisors to take issue with assessments. Last year, two of eight formal protests were in person. State law allows all Mississippi homes and businesses to protest values after county boards equalize tax rolls in July. Any adjustments are usually made with the recommendation of the tax assessor.
