A Tulsa, Okla., man accused of first-degree murder was in Issaquena County Jail this morning awaiting extradition to Missouri.
Daniel D. Hartman, 17, was arrested Monday afternoon in Rolling Fork by the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, the marshal’s office said Wednesday.
Hartman, a member of the Crips street gang, is one of six suspects in a home-invasion robbery and homicide in Joplin, Mo., said Joplin police Sgt. Chad Allison.
It was unknown this morning why Hartman had gone to Sharkey County when he fled from Missouri, Allison said.
Hartman is accused of being the triggerman in the death of Jacob A. Wages, who was 23. A safe and firearms were stolen from Wages’ home during the break-in, Allison said.
“Basically the house was ransacked,” Allison said.
Three others have been charged in the slaying, Allison said, and a 16-year-old gang member from Tulsa remains at-large.
Upon his return to Missouri, Hartman will face charges of first-degree murder and home invasion, Allison said.
Hartman also is a suspect in a homicide in Tulsa, Allison said.
“The gang unit there is very interested in talking to him,” Allison said.
In August 2011, Hartman and another man were charged with first-degree murder, burglary and armed robbery in Tulsa in the shooting death of 23-year-old Michael Lee Joseph Ross, who was robbed of drugs and money, according to court records.
In October, a judge dismissed charges against Hartman, citing a need for further investigation, court records show.
Calls to Tulsa police were not returned this morning.
