Three women were injured Sunday on U.S. 61 South when the car in which they were riding left the highway and overturned, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

He said Paige Moore, 21, and Evie Hilderbrand, 21, both of Vicksburg, and Ashley Peacock, 22, hometown unknown, were flown from the scene to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where a hospital spokeswoman said Moore and Hilderbrand were in fair condition.

No information was available on Peacock.

Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol spokesman Cpl. Odis Easterling, said the women were southbound on U.S. 61 South about 7 a.m. when the car left the road about a mile south of Jeff Davis Road in Yokena and overturned in the median.

Moore, who was driving, was ejected from the car.

She was not wearing a seat belt, Easterling said.

The other two were strapped in, he said.
