John W. Horn

John W. Horn died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 87.

Born in Kentucky, Mr. Horn had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He retired from Anderson-Tully as a riverboat engineer and was an outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobby Lee Horn; his father, William M. Horn; his mother, Rosie Viola Baker; a daughter, Gloria Miller; and a grandson, Jimmy Melvin Horn Jr.

Survivors include two sons, William James Horn and Jimmy Melvin Horn Sr.; two daughters, Nancy Ann Wooten and Audrey Peeples; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Maj. Loeine Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be William James Horn, Jimmy Horn Sr., Richard James Horn, John William Horn, Charlie Peeples, C.J. Peeples, Jonathan Horn and Lonnie Gentry.
