Wibowo shines at St. Al meet

Wally Wibowo won the boys 100-yard freestyle, finished second in the 200 freestyle, and was on a pair of top-three relay teams Saturday to help St. Aloysius finish fourth in the team standings at the St. Al Invitational at City Pool.

Wibowo clocked a time of 51.83 seconds to win the 100 freestyle. He was edged by about a second in the 200 by Winn Walker of St. Andrew’s.

Wibowo later teamed with Dixon Stone, Rob Sanders and Gabriel Riveros to finish in second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sanders, Stone, Wibowo and Charlie Martin placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

St. Andrew’s won the boys meet by winning eight events and totaling 133 points. Madison-St. Joe was second in the eight-team meet, with 120 points, followed by Oak Grove with 89 points and St. Al with 68.

St. Andrew’s also won eight events in the girls meet to edge Madison-St. Joe by seven points for the title. Oak Grove was third, with 83 points, and St. Al was fourth with 39.

St. Al’s Blaine Butler finished second in the girls 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 28.39 seconds.
