EDWARDS — Betty Joe Allen died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, La. She was 80.

Mrs. Allen was a native of Lincoln County and had lived in Edwards for 51 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Andrew Allen Sr.; a son, Joel Dexter Allen; brothers, Maurice Smith and Willie Hewitt Smith Jr.; and a sister, Elaine Prouty.

Survivors include two sons, Hugh Andrew Allen Jr. of Saginaw, Texas, and Dana Matthew Allen of Vicksburg; a daughter, Ava Lorraine Stathes of Houma; a brother, Kirby Conrad Smith of Clinton; two sisters, Ava Pearl Smith of Brookhaven and Neva Groome of Dallas; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with Eric Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery in Edwards. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
