Late touchdown sinks Eagles at Heidelberg

Zach Morgan’s fourth-down pass attempt to P.J. Lassiter fell awry with 30 seconds left as Porters Chapel fell 24-18 at Heidelberg Academy Friday night.

A win over previously winless Heidelberg Academy would’ve locked up a berth in the playoffs for Porters Chapel (3-5, 2-2 District 4-A) and put them in prime position for a shot at second place in the district and a home playoff game. Even though the Eagles are likely in the postseason despite the loss, they will need help to secure a home playoff game.

Running back Peter Harris scored all three PCA touchdowns, giving him 12 touchdowns from scrimmage this season.

Marqueion Milsap threw a touchdown pass with a shade over two minutes left to go to put the Rebels (1-6, 1-2) ahead to stay.

But the Rebels fought back, as Milsap had a touchdown run to tie the game at 6-all.

Harris answered with a 1-yard run and the Rebels counted with a touchdown right before the halftime to knot the contest again at 12.
