Services for Catherine “Madear” Smith will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Hemphill officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Smith was an active member of Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Smith; three daughters, JoAnn Payne, Catherine Bingham Danderige and Louise Saddler; a grandson; her parents, Ned and Hazel Hooper; four brothers, Eddie Hooper, Alfred Hooper, Alfonzo Hooper and Joe Hooper; and a sister, Hazel Joyce Flanagan.

Survivors include two sons, Bernard Payne and Wilbert Smtih Jr, both of Vicksburg; four daughters, Ginnett McQueen and Alfreida Shlton, both of Indianapolis, Rosie Bingham Washington of Savannah, Ga., and Virginia Johnson Jefferson of Vicksburg; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including Debra Smith and Alma Hamberlain.
