Services for William “Bell” Douglas Jr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Greater Grove Street with Pastor Henry L. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Douglas died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.
He was born in Berkeley, Calif., to William and Mary Curry Douglas. He attended McIntyre Elementary and was a 1963 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. He had worked at several grocery stores, including Jitney Jungle, Thompson’s Sunflower and A&P, and was employed with Southeast Foods Inc./County Market.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine and Jessie Douglas; his grandparents, William and Emily Douglas and Dan and Mattie Thomas Curry; and aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his companion of 45 years, Joyce Edmond of Vicksburg; two sons, Michael Thomas and Timothy Thomas, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Roosevelt Douglas of Los Angeles, Ernest “Grit” Douglas of Vicksburg and Curtis Holden of Muskegon, Mich.; four sisters, Mattie Wilson of Vicksburg, Laura Ann Lewis of Jackson and Janie Douglas and Hattie Douglas, both of Los Angeles; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
