Hats off to Kees

I read The Vicksburg Post article on Oct. 17 about the academic success of Daniel Kees. As a former teacher in the Vicksburg Warren School District, and a co-worker of Daniel’s mother, I had the privilege of carrying Daniel and Joshua to Tallulah on Saturday mornings for ACT prep. Both young men were model students for others to emulate.
Daniel assured me he would go to the top with his academics. I hold it dear that he brought me a copy of his top ACT scores. I am extremely proud of Daniel’s successes and I look forward to reading more about this model young man in the future.
It was always a joy to have the Kees in class on Saturdays. Their thirst for knowledge was motivation for other students.
Upon returning to Vicksburg after the ACT review, I was always told, “Thanks for teaching us today.” I commend Janice Kees for rearing such wonderful young men. Rearing and educating children today is an investment for the future.
We, as teachers, and those who are in charge of education children must go into classrooms and teach for success. Our children can learn. We must instill upon them daily that education is power.
