Dr. Toni Bertolet Henthorn, a former Vicksburg resident, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, as the result of a hiking accident in Estes Park, Colo. She was 50.

Dr. Henthorn was born Jan. 10, 1962, in Jackson. She graduated with honors from Trinity High School in Natchez and was a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1988.

She was an ophthalmologist in the firm of Associates in Eyecare in Denver, where she conducted cataract, Lasik and facial cosmetic surgery. She was awarded a place in America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council in 2006. She previously had practiced in Vicksburg and Jackson.

Dr. Henthorn attended and taught Sunday school with her husband at Cherry Hills Community Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Henthorn of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Haley Henthorn of Littleton; her parents, Bob and Yvonne Bertolet of Ridgeland; and two brothers, Barry Bertolet of Tupelo and Todd Bertolet of Ridgeland.

A memorial service was held Oct. 19 at Jackson First Baptist Church.
