Sam E. Sorrels

PATTISON — Sam E. Sorrels died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80.
A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Mr. Sorrels retired as a machinist from R.J. LeTourneau Co. He had also farmed and worked for Grand Gulf and Bruce Hardwood Co. He was an active member and deacon at Beech Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Vera Sorrels; and a sister, Evelyn Black.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Sorrels of Pattison; two sons, Darrell W. Sorrels of Pattison and Randy E. Sorrels of Brookhaven; three daughters, Deborrah Eason of Ruston, La., Penny Sorrels of Brookhaven and Chandra Anderson of Port Gibson; a sister, Virgie Dunigan of McComb; seven grandchildren, Sonya Jones, Michael Sorrels, Cody Sorrels, Travis Sorrels, Morgan Loyd, Troy Anderson and April Anderson; and three great-grandchildren, Gracie Jones, Sophia Jones and Sam Jones.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with Paul Jabour officiating. Burial will follow at Sarepta Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Brown, Penley Sorrels, Matthew Brown, Chris Fife, Carrol Anderson and Don Hynum.
