Holladay Broadcasting, which owns Vicksburg radio stations River 101.3 and KHits 104.5, has a new station playing rhythm and blues, station manager Delores Evans said.
She said the station, known as 92.7 The Touch, began broadcasting in the Vicksburg area Nov. 13.
She said the station’s music programming will be delivered through a satellite feed and consist of classic and contemporary rhythm and blues. The station also will feature comedian Steve Harvey’s syndicated radio show from 5 to 9 a.m. beginning in early December.
Holladay Broadcasting owner Bob Holladay said he acquired the station from SSR Communications of Flora in February. He would not discuss the price, but online radio/television industry publication RBR-TVBR, Federal Communications Commission records show Holladay paid $65,000 for the frequency.
He said programming will be distributed by Cumulus Media Networks and Premiere Radio Networks. Cumulus will provide the music and Premiere will deliver the Steve Harvey show.
Holladay said no date has been set for a formal launch of the station, adding the station is playing music to help technicians make adjustments to the equipment.
“We put the cart before the horse with this station,” he said. “Our engineers did a fantastic job getting the station ready ahead of schedule.”
“We’re filling a void in the market left by WRTM’s move to Jackson last month,” Evans said. “We’ve already gotten calls from people who have heard us. People are definitely excited about it.”
