PORT GIBSON — Mary Hernton died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 80.

Mrs. Hernton is survived by a son, Sidney Hernton of Port Gibson; two daughters, Rose Dowery Hazley of Port Gibson and Elizabeth Dowery Wilson of Chicago; a brother, Lucky Dowery of Memphis; an adopted sister, Elizabeth Hope of Chicago Heights, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Sheri Hernton, Renetta Harris, Freddie Harris and Robert Dowery, all of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
