St. Aloysius’ Sage Lewis has been a standout at several positions in his high school football career. It’s his work on special teams that keeps getting recognized, however.
Lewis, a senior offensive lineman and linebacker, was selected to the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 1A All-State team as a first-team long snapper. It’s the second straight year he’s made the team at that position.
Lewis, a three-year starter who also played linebacker, center and offensive tackle, was second on the team with 68 total tackles this season. He also scored one rushing touchdown and blocked a field goal.
Lewis was the only Warren County player to earn All-State honors, although several more from the Vicksburg area were picked.
Hinds AHS punter DeAndre Bolton made the Class 1A first team, while teammates Brodrick Taylor, Greg Watts and DeAndre Selmon were second-teamers.
Bolton averaged 39.8 yards on 25 punts, and also had 39 tackles, one fumble recovery and three sacks as a linebacker. He was previously named the All-Region 4-1A specialist of the year by the league’s coaches.
Taylor, a senior tackle, and Watts, a senior guard, paved the way for two 1,000-yard rushers. One of them was Selmon, who had 1,466 yards and 13 touchdowns. Selmon also returned a punt for a touchdown, caught one TD pass and threw a TD pass. He made the All-State team as a running back.
Hinds’ other 1,000-yard back was senior Aaron Terrell, who ran for 1,128 yards.
