The third annual Jingle Bells and Cocktails, a Christmas party of unity for groups promoting Vicksburg and Warren County, will be at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center Thursday night.

“This is a very positive thing,” SCHC Executive Director Annette Kirklin said. “I’m proud how everyone works together.”

Organizations expected to be represented at the gathering from 6 until 8 p.m. are Main Street, SCHC, the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, Warren County Port Commission and the Vicksburg Convention Center.

Kirklin said all city and county elected officials also are invited.

“No one shows up with their own agenda,” Kirklin said, “but I feel one of the topics of conversation will be the sesquicentennial.”

Vicksburg and Warren County will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and particularly the Siege of Vicksburg throughout 2013.

“This is a good way for groups that work together all year to get excited about the next year,” Kirklin said.
