Alonzo Brandon

Alonzo Brandon died on Jan. 30, 2014, at Claiborne County Medical Center in Port Gibson. He was 90.

Mr. Brandon was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson and worked for several employers, including Callendar’s Logging Company and LeTourneau. He retired from Cooper Lighting after 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Abraham and Martha D. Brandon; a son, John Brandon; a daughter, Annie Lee Brandon Tate; a sister, Emma Brandon Neyland; six brothers, Abraham, James, Richard, Amos, Burris and Henry Brandon.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Marjorie Brandon of Port Gibson; six children, Kennedy Brandon of Detroit, Michigan, Vivian Brandon of Clinton, Carl Brandon of Port Gibson, Maxine Brandon Johnson, of Desoto, Texas, Dennis Brandon of Vicksburg, and Willie Mack Brandon of St. Louis; two sisters, Martha Brandon Wright of Columbus, Ohio and Cordelia Brandon King of Chicago;  grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Beechland M.B. Church, 12178 Russum Westside Road, Port Gibson. Burial will follow at McCaa Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday with the family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at China Grove M.B. Church, 2014 Old Highway 61 South. Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
