Nola Cox Blye died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at The University of Philadelphia Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. She was 67.

Blye resided in Wilmington, Del. She had retired from Cheney State University in Philadelphia where she served as Dean of Mathematics and Acting Provost. She attended The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Wilmington.

She was a 1964 graduate of Rosa A. Temple high school. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Alcorn State University in Lorman, a masters degree in mathematics from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., and an advanced degree in calculus and statistics from Temple University. She worked for General Motors in Delaware developing a curriculum to re-train their workforce in new robotic technologies, as a mathematics instructor at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio, worked for Chester School District in Philadelphia as director of their math training programs for teachers, acted as a consultant and evaluator for the Community College Board in Pennsylvania for their mathematics department, served on numerous boards in Delaware and Pennsylvania to include Friends School, Officer in Toastmasters International, member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, Mary Anita Cox and Alfred Cox; a god-sister Bertha Moore Flagg.

She is survived by her daughter, Toinette Blye, of Wilmington; a sister, Rita M. Wyatt of Vicksburg; nephews Cedric Wyatt and Levi Wyatt; and other relatives including Cara Robertson of Madison, and Robert Payne of Dallas.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 900 First North Street, with The Rev. Denny Allman officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Rosa A. Temple class of 1964. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild in her memory.
