Lucille Elmore

Lucille Elmore died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 97.

Mrs. Elmore was born in Edwards and was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and was a member of Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Richardson and Minnie Bryant White; her husband, James E. Elmore; and three sons, Alonzo Singleton, Fred Singleton and Ulysses Singleton; two brothers, Percy Bryant and King Charles Bryant; two grandchildren, Karl Slaughter and Lorraine B. Blackmore; and two sons-in-law, Nathaniel Brown and James Boyd Sr.

Survivors include five daughters, Eula S. Brown, Alma S. Boyd, Mattie Robinson, Daisy Harbin, all of Vicksburg, and Matilda Haynes, of Shreveport; two sons, Elex Singleton, of Bovina, and John Singleton, of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church with Alfred Lassiter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday at 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
