Bobby Gardner

Bobby Gardner died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, MS. He was 78.

Born in Franklin County on Oct. 28, 1935, he lived in Vicksburg for most of his life where he was a member of the Highland Baptist Church.  He was employed with NCI Transport for 30 years as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Percy Gardner; his mother, Callie Garner; a sister, Alene Beech; and two brothers, Harold Loyd Gardner and Charlie E. Gardner.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Gardner of Vicksburg; his son, Chuck Gardner of Vicksburg; his brother, Donald W. Gardner of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Ivey officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is at 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Don Gardner, Jr., Shane Gardner, Chris Ables, Murray Warnock, Tracy Case, Jim O’Bannon, and Jay Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James Valentine, Dr. Sam Pierce, and Dr. Paul Pierce IV and Patrick Blythe.
