Geraldine “Gerri” Cockrell died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in Arkansas, she had been a resident of Vicksburg most of her life. Mrs. Cockrell was the daughter of the late Gerald Martin Childers and Annie Mae Ford Venable.
She and her late husband owned and operated Cockrell’s Auto Parts for a number of years.
Mrs. Cockrell was a devoted wife, sister, loving mother and a very special grandmother and great-grandmother. She had been a member of the Homemakers Extension Dogwood Club for 70 years. She was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, the Clark Sunday school class and the Grayson Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Gray Cockrell; stepfather, Jack Venable; a daughter, Linda Cockrell Warnock; and three brothers, Carson Childers, Graham Childers and Bill Childers.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Cockrell; son, Ricky Cockrell; brother, Bobby Childers; a son-in-law, Carl Warnock; five grandchildren, Brad Warnock (Danielle); Janean Sharp (Todd); Nicole Jones (Glen Jr.); Brooke Cockrell and Katie Cockrell; six great-grandchildren, Mary Bradley Warnock, Wes Warnock Gray Sharp, Andrew Sharp, Austin Jones and Ricky Jones.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mitchell W. Cochran, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Glen Jones, Jr, Steve Butler, Todd Sharp, Donald Oakes, Bill Jones and Glen Ward.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Carlos Latorre, Dr. Lara Clement, Jean Rampy, Brenda Whitney and Bridgette Parra.
