FLORENCE — Joseph Allan Campbell “Allan” passed away on Feb. 14, 2014, with his wife, Calli Miller Campbell, near Trussville, Ala., in a single aircraft accident while delivering critical medical supplies. He was 44 years old.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Florence, with graveside services following at Garden of Memories under the direction of Chancellor Funeral Home of Florence.
Visitation will be today at the church from 5 to 8 p.m., and Friday from noon to 1 p.m.
Allan was born March 24, 1969, in Vicksburg. He attended Jett Elementary and Northview United Methodist Church, and played soccer in the Vicksburg youth league.
He moved with his family to Crossett, Ark., at the age of 8, where he attended Crossett United Methodist Church and played baseball in the youth league.
Two years later, his family returned to Mississippi, moving to Brandon. He played soccer in the youth league, and later football in the Brandon school system. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1987.
He graduated from Hinds Community College in 1993 with a technical certificate in respiratory care technology. He was also in the Navy Reserve for several years.
He worked for AAA Cooper Transportation for 22 years while he completed his private pilot’s license, commercial pilot’s license, flight instructor certification and seaplane certification.
He enjoyed horses, motorcycles, spending time on the water, and being with his family.
In January 2014, he finally fulfilled his goal of being a commercial pilot when he began a new career with Southern Seaplane, based in Belle Chasse, La. While his family and friends will always miss his giggle laugh and country ways, he was doing what he enjoyed.
Allan is survived by his daughters, Jessica and Alanna Campbell of Florence; parents, Joe and Jo Akin Campbell of Brandon; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy Cauthen Joe Cauthen, and nephews Blake and Kyle Cauthen, all of Madison; and other relatives. He is also survived by Calli’s children, Heather Ward of Florence, and Brady Ward of Clinton; and Calli’s granddaughter, Ali Grace Ward of Florence.
In lieu of flowers, a trust account has been established for Jessica and Alanna Campbell at Trustmark National Bank.
