PCA loses to Hinds AHS

A late rally and a controversial call helped Central Hinds to keep Porters Chapel Academy out of the win column.
Central Hinds scored twice in the sixth inning, then twice more in the seventh to steal a 4-3 victory from the Eagles on Friday night. The winning run came across on a potential double play ball, when shortstop Steven Busma was taken out by a hard slide at second that led to a high throw that pulled the first baseman off the bag. No interference was called on the play.
Peyton Banes had two hits for Central Hinds, including an RBI infield single in the seventh inning that tied the game.
Sam Kirk and Jonah Masterson each hit solo home runs for PCA (0-3), which lost despite playing its best game of the young season. PCA had allowed at least 12 runs in each of its first two losses.
Masterson, Booth Buys, Hunter Lyons and Busma had two hits apiece for PCA.
PCA will play at Central Hinds again on Monday night, then host Tri-County on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
