Vicksburg Girls Softball registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s 2014 fast-pitch season is open until March 10 for players ages 5-18. Registration forms are at Hobie’s and Just Duett Sports. Cost is $45 per child.

 Run Thru History registration open

The 35th annual Run Thru History 10K run and 5K race walk is scheduled for Saturday in the Vicksburg National Military Park. The entry fee for the race is $25 for the run and walk, and $12 for the children’s 1-mile fun run before Monday, and $30 after that date.

 Gator A-Club meeting scheduled

The Vicksburg High School Gator A-Club, the school’s athletic booster organization, will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the athletics conference room at the Vicksburg Warren School District offices on Mission 66. The meeting is to discuss VHS’ athletic banquet.

 Red Cross lifeguard class

The Purks YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguard certification class from March 24 through April 4. The 10-day, 28-hour course will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. each day. Cost of the class is $100 for Y members and $115 for non-members. Students must be at least 15 years old before April 4. Instructors are Susan Athow, Bob Athow, and Sylvia Gurtowski.

 Madison Parish Dixie Youth baseball

The Madison Parish Dixie Youth Baseball League is conducting registration for the upcoming season. Forms are available at the village of Richmond’s mayor’s office at 598 Wood Street, Richmond, La.  Zeke West Memorial Bass Tournament

The Tallulah Bass Club will host the sixth annual Zeke West Memorial Bass Tournament on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Lake Bruin. Boats will launch from Lake Bruin State Park and the lake is off-limits the week of Feb. 23-28. First place prize is $1,000. The entry fee per boat is $100, plus an optional $10 big bass pot.
