Lurlene Adams Soverns

Mrs. Lurlene Adams Soverns died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.

Born in Brookhaven, she was the daughter of Percy Adams and Myrtle Johnson Adams. A former resident of Natchez, Mrs. Soverns transferred from the Natchez International Paper Company to Vicksburg in 1966 to assist in opening the Vicksburg International Paper Mill.  She retired from International Paper Co. in 1990.

She is survived by a daughter, Janith Rouse Rudd of Biloxi; granddaughter, Neysa Rudd Dispenza (Sean) of Vicksburg; grandson, Christopher Walker Rudd (Casey) of Tallulah, La.; four great-grandchildren and her sister, Marilyn Rogers of Pine Bluff, Ark.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, E. H. Soverns Sr., and her sister, Patsy Ann Freeman.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Crossway Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Riles Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service.

Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society, 6600 U.S. Highway 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Pallbearers will be Bobby C. Freeman, Danny R. Smith, Ken Groves, Sean Dispenza, Wren Way and Bobby Bryan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sherri Aultman Engdahl, Gloria Taylor Pennington, Debbie Way and Linda Taylor.
