Virginia Hamner Strawn

Virginia Hamner Strawn died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Strawn was born in Porterville, Miss. and has been a resident of Vicksburg since 1965. She was a sales associate for McRae’s Department Store, later Belk, for 27 years, before retiring in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Strawn, Jr.; her father, Thomas Edward Hamner; her mother, Mary Rhyne Hamner; two sisters, Patsy Sage and Janet Thomas; two brothers, Thomas Edward Hamner, Jr. and Leon Hamner.
Survivors include two daughters, Delia Strawn and Sue Griffing (Steve), both of Vicksburg; a son, Jim Strawn (Janice), of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Jim Strawn IV and Lyn Strawn Taylor, both of Starkville, Maggie McKnight, of Vicksburg, and Anna Griffing, of Hattiesburg; four great-grandchildren, Will Taylor, Emma Taylor, both of Starkville, Anna Kate McKnight, Van McKnight, both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Helen Craddock, Bettie Ekey, Dorothy Goforth, Odeen Riley and Linda Rawson; two brothers, Walter Roy Hamner and Kennon Hamner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Enondale Cemetery, Porterville, with the Rev. Ron Burch officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home
