Lake Providence policeman held for false reports

A Lake Providence police officer accused of giving a false police report was held in the East Carroll Parrish County Jail this morning.

Police Officer Lee Antwine, 52, no address, surrendered to investigators at he East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday and arrested, said Albert Paxton, spokesman for the Louisiana State Police.

Paxton said that investigators learned that Antwin had falsified a police report involving a crash that occurred on Feb. 16 in Lake Providence.

Paxton said that Antwin reported that a 2005 Ford truck had been involved in a crash with a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. Investigators interviewed witnesses that indicated a car had actually struck the Avalanche.

Antwine’s bond was set at $5,000.
