Funeral arrangements were pending this morning for one of six members of a Vicksburg dance team injured in a wreck March 1 along Interstate 20 near Bolton.
Danielle DeJuan Peoples died Friday at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson as a result of her injuries from the wreck. She was 15.
Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Peoples was a 10th-grader at Vicksburg High School and a manager on the girls track team, said her mother, Juanita McKenzie.
“She was highly respected and well-mannered,” McKenzie said. “She had a beautiful personality.”
Survivors also included 11 brothers and sisters.
The accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. near eastbound I-20 and North Norrell Road. A Mercury Mountaineer in which Peoples and seven others were passengers overturned and five were ejected. The accident is believed to have been caused by a tire blowout.
Inside the vehicle were Kathryn Nelson, 32, who drove the vehicle, Kaylah Steadman, 13, Cameron Cooper and Kayla McLeod, both 16, Sheryl Mounger, Mary Katherine Archer, 10, and LaRubyan Bailey, 14. McLeod and Mounger were listed Tuesday has having been released from UMMC while the hospital had no record of the others, a hospital spokesman said.
They were members of Radical Praise dance team, affiliated with I Can Fly Ministries, and were returning home from a praise conference in Jackson.
