Marie Young Sims died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.
She was a member of Mount Alban Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents, Truly and Mary Richardson; husbands, Mitchell Young Sr. and Eddie Sims; two children, Mary Louise Carter and Mitchell Young Jr.; and three grandchildren, Fitzgerald Giles, Columbus Richardson and Richie Anderson.
Survivors include her four daughters, Deloris Dixon of District Heights, Md., Annie Lee Giles of Temple Hills, Md., and Margie Ree Richardson and Cariola Price both of Vicksburg; seven sons, Samuel Lee Richardson of Forestville, Md., Sam Wilson Jr. of District Heights, Md., Elbert Young of Marietta, Ga., Zachary Young of Natchez,  and Willie Earl Young, Michael Young and Gregory Young, all of Vicksburg; 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora M. Wolf of Vicksburg and Etta Claiborne of Port Gibson; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Alban M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with family present from 5 to 6 p.m., and Saturday at the church from noon until the hour of the service.
