Roosevelt Watkins Jr.

Roosevelt Watkins Jr. died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 60.
Mr. Watkins was a former butcher for the Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store.  He was born in Rolling Fork in Sharkey County before moving to Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Watkins Sr., and mother, Annie Bell Braxton; brothers Dan Dillard, Ernest Dillard and David Dillard; sisters, Mary Wilson and Annie Mae Dillard; and maternal grandparents John and Georgia McAdory Robinson.
Survivors include his son, Roosevelt Watkins III of Racine, Wisc.;  daughters, Cassandra M. Watkins of Vicksburg, and Alisa Ross of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Mary Lovette, Dorothy Ann Earl, Mattie Hall and Lillie Macon, all of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mount Zion M. B. Church No. 1 with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
