A Vicksburg man accused of spitting in the face of a police officer was free on bail this morning.

Fabian Armstead, 28, who lives on Halls Ferry Road, was arrested on a warrant for simple assault of a police officer at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday while appearing in Vicksburg Municipal Court on misdemeanor charges, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

Armstead is accused of spitting in the face of an officer several times when he was being arrested on misdemeanor charges on March 7, Williams said.

Armstead posted $10,000 bail and was released from the Warren County Jail.
