Rodney E. Porter Sr.

Rodney E. Porter Sr. died peacefully Friday, March 7, 2014, at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg. He was 73.
Rodney was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and a native of Meadville. He was the son of the late Warren Porter and Alyce Burris Porter.
Rodney was an avid deer hunter and loved to fish. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley C. Porter; son, Rodney E. “Chip” Porter Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lisa G. Porter of Savannah, Ga., and Portia P. Ashley (David) of Vicksburg; granddaughter, Amanda L. Suell; two brothers, Warren Porter Jr. and Mike Porter (Melissa); four sisters, Tama Chance (Elzie), Lavelle Case (Lloyd), Pat Douglas (Jackie) and Jo Nita Porter; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Kolby Porter.
A Celebration of Life visitation for Rodney will be Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Riles Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to noon.
