Warren Central pounded another opponent into submission.

The Vikings had 14 hits and posted a double-digit run total for the fourth straight game as they routed Pearl 10-1 on Saturday afternoon.

WC (10-2) has won five consecutive games overall, and scored at least nine runs in six of its last eight outings.

“I think we’re getting into midseason form and are becoming more confident at the plate. Our early-season woes are hopefully behind us,” WC coach Conner Douglas said.

Douglas was happy with his team’s surge, especially heading into one of the biggest weeks of the season. The Vikings play a home-and-home series with Clinton that could determine the Division 4-6A championship. The teams -— the only two in Division 4-6A with more than two wins — play Tuesday night at Clinton, Friday at WC, and then a third time April 11 at Clinton.

“We’re not concerned with seeding, because in the grand scheme of things you have to beat everybody. However, winning the division is one of the goals we set as a team and this week will be critical to those regards,” Douglas said. “It should be a very fun series. I like where we are as a team right now. We’re playing good baseball. I’m looking forward to it.”

Carlisle Koestler went 3-for-3 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored in Saturday’s win over Pearl. He has hit safely in 11 of 12 games this season.

Marcus Ragan and Brooks Boolos both went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Cameron Upton was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Boolos, Zach Cox and Hunter Simrall all doubled.

Upton is 7-for-11 with six RBIs in his last four games.

John Morgan McRight (2-0) scattered three hits and allowed one unearned run in six innings. He walked one batter, hit another, and struck out three. Boolos finished up with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
